A Round-Up of Inspiration // Makeup

Makeup is all about your personal style. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t take some inspiration from trends and celebrities!
I wanted to share with you a few trends I’ve been loving and a celebrity I get some inspiration from. Enjoy!
Gotta Get That Glow I used to be obsessed with keeping my face totally matte; any sign of shine or dewy-ness and I would have to go powder immediately… WHY?? Did I not know that glowy skin looks healthy and youthful?? I had a change of heart once I began seeing what wonders a bit of highlight can do for your complexion. I love to apply cream highlighter on the high points of my face before I even start with concealer/foundation–it just gives a lovely, glowing-from-within look! I’ve been using The Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream ($18 at thebeautycrop.com) that I received in a Birchbox a couple of months ago (btw–Birchbox is a monthly beauty samples subscription box). It offers a beautifully natural champagne glow. After applying all face makeup except blush, I go a little further and use a powder highlight (what can I say?? I’m obsessed with the glow!). I’ve tried a few in the past, but my favorite one lately has been the Nyx Illuminator in Ritualistic ($9 at Ulta). This product is beautiful! Do be careful when applying as it can be a little patchy with glitter when applied with a heavy hand, but it’s great otherwise!

Here’s an example of great places to add that glow…

Blush Tones All the Way A huge trend lately has been the obsession with rosy, blush, and brown tones on the eyes and lips. By rosy & blush tones, I mean that gorgeous natural brownish-pink color. My favorite eyeshadow duo for this is the Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow Duo in Raisins. Unfortunately, I can’t find this anywhere except for eBay and Amazon (believe me… It’s way too expensive on there!). However there is a cheaper drugstore alternative that I also adore — Maybelline Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette ($10 at Target). This offers 12 different pinky-blush shades that are all the rage right now. It even tells you how you can match them up to create a look with them! I’m not saying these are perfect or the best shadows I’ve ever used; they can be a little less pigmented than I would desire. However, they are worth it for the drugstore price and availability. Now let’s talk about my favorite lip combination ever — which just happens to be in the rosy-brown family! I begin with the Nyx Slim Lip Pencil in Natural ($4 at Ulta) to line and fill in my lips. Next, I go in with the Nyx Matte Lipstick in Eurotrash ($6 at Ulta). This combo offers great pigmentation and is a wonderfully inexpensive way to get that beautiful “Kylie Jenner” lip that everyone is obsessing over.

The more I think about it, there is truly just one celebrity that I often look to for makeup inspiration…
Demi Lovato This girl is gorgeous. She is the queen of the natural makeup and rocks an intense smoky eye. She likes to keep her skin glowy, which is what I love. She is all about embracing and enhancing your God-given beauty. I take a lot of inspiration from her natural looks and dewy glow.

I often take much inspiration from many YouTubers and beauty bloggers–a few that I have mentioned in a previous post (My Top 3 Favorite Bloggers). I love watching makeup tutorials and getting inspired! That is truly how I learned about makeup. I encourage you to look around and practice. Practice makes almost perfect–there’s always room to grow and learn! I’m even learning myself still today. If you want to advance your makeup skills, there are tons of places to find inspiration… Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and experiment!
Thanks for reading always.
