Each Day A New
If you’re like me, you often get wound up in mistakes, worries, struggles, etc. — past, present, and even future. This often weighs me down and stresses me out more than I should.
Everyday has its own struggles and things to worry about. It’s often hard not to get caught up in past mistakes and worry about being “good enough” or even being overbearing to people.
However, with all of the struggle and worry and problems the world offers, we have hope and faith in Jesus Christ that he will guide us through.
God has granted us with the gift of beginning each day as a new day. We lay our heads down at night possibly feeling overwhelmed with that day and days to come. We finally get to rest our bodies and minds through the gift of sleep to rejuvenate ourselves for the next day and all of the duties ahead.
God allows each day to be new. He forgets the mistakes and eases the struggle from each day and allows a fresh start on the next one.
I really love this quote my dad showed me recently. He said that he reminds himself of this often, and I wanted to share it with you as it impacted my thoughts in a big way.
We have done all we could do yesterday. We should begin today in such a great mood with joy that comes only from Jesus Christ that we can’t even be bothered to stress over things we have done in the past.
For me, this process is easier with God on my side. There will obviously still be days where I don’t feel like getting out of bed and taking on the day, or days that I am almost overwhelmed with guilty thoughts from mistakes I’ve makde, but each day brings exciting moments — either big or small — that I believe God gives us to make our days a little easier.
For me, a few of those moments are the special times that I get to see my family after a long day, spend time with them, and love on them. I love coming home to my mom and giving her a big hug. I love making jokes with my sister that only her and I understand. I love impressing my dad with the knowledge I’ve learned in my Personal Finance class that day and joking with him and my sister some more.
Another special time is getting the privilege of reading my Bible at night. I’ve lately been reading through Psalms and many of Paul’s letters, and my life has been impacted tremendously.
God shows up in little ways throughout the day. He helps us to make each day a new one.
Forget about your past. Don’t stress about the future. Be present always.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16
God renews our hearts day by day.
Be present in today and don’t worry about yesterday, tomorrow, 7 years ago, or 7 years from now. Today has enough trouble of its own, just like Jesus said in Matthew 6:25-34, but God gets us through it.
I want to end with a quote from the movie Kung Fu Panda (don’t judge me…). I’ve always remembered this quote ever since I first saw the movie, and it is important to remember.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.
Always remember that God is with you. Don’t stress out about mistakes, problems, etc. Each day is brand new!
